Belgium – A1 and PWD Registration

If you are sending an employee to work in Belgium, an A1 registration through virk.dk may not always be sufficient. Depending on the nature and duration of the work and who the work is performed for, it may also be necessary to submit a notification under the EU’s Posting of Workers Directive (PWD).

When is PWD registration required in Belgium?

You may be required to submit a PWD registration if your employee is, for example, performing work for a Belgian company, thereby creating value in Belgium.
This may also apply for stays exceeding 90 days for employees from non-EU/EEA/Schengen countries or for the temporary provision of services as a self-employed individual.
In all cases, registration must be completed before the work begins.

Information required for PWD registration

The employer must provide the Belgian authorities with, among other things:

  • The liaison person’s name, date of birth, and contact details
  • The capacity in which the person is acting (employer, employee, or third party)
  • The address, email, and phone number of the contact person in Belgium
  • And more…
How to make the registration

Registration must be completed through the Belgian LIMOSA system:

🔗 Register here via Social Security Belgium

The Belgian Liaison Office
The Belgian liaison office acts as the first point of contact for foreign employers wishing to post workers to Belgium. Additional information and documentation can be found here:
