Posting to Austria – A1 Registration & Posted Workers Directive (PWD)

Is your company sending employees to Austria?

Then it is mandatory to apply for an A1 certificate via virk.dk.
The A1 documentation shows that the employee remains covered by Danish social security during the work stay in Austria.

Do you also need to apply under the Posted Workers Directive (PWD)?
In addition to A1 registration, it may be necessary to notify the employee’s stay under the EU Posted Workers Directive (PWD) – also known as the Austrian Posted Workers Directive.
The requirements depend on the type of work, industry, duration, workplace, and the value the employee creates – and thereby who and which country ultimately benefits from the work.

Registration in Austria is done through the Zentrale Koordinationsstelle (ZKO) and requires thorough preparation to avoid errors and delays.

Where do you apply for PWD in Austria?
Registration takes place via the Austrian ZKO system under the Federal Ministry of Finance.

For posting of employees, use the online form ZKO3.

  • Industry and company type
  • Name of the receiving entity, VAT number (UID), address, email, phone number

  • And more…
Are youemployment terms in compliance with Austrian labor law?

In Austria, you must ensure that employee wages, working hours, and employment conditions meet the requirements in the relevant Austrian collective agreements (Kollektivverträge).
Non-compliance can lead to significant fines.

We recommend examining:

  • Minimum wage and overtime compensation
  • Working hours and breaks
  • Holiday and rest period regulations
